  Aims and Committees

The aim of our association is to provide advise and support to vet nurses/assistants, promote our profession to the general public, promote and provide lifelong learning and elevate professional skills and standard.

Our Executive Committee members will continue to arrange CPD workshops and exchange events for our members. I hope our members will enjoy participating our events, and new members are very welcomed.



President

Vincent 

Vincent have been working in Veterinary Nursing industry over 10 years, he is now working in Equine Hospital at The Hong Kong Jockey Club. He is holding a Cert IV Veterinary Nursing and Cert IV Training and Assessment qualifications recognized in Australia. And he has special interested in Medical Informatics Technology.
He has joined HKVNA as committee since 2012, learns from the past and overseas to plan the development for HKVNA. He hopes HKVNA can gather Hong Kong veterinary nurses and assistants together and develop a better future for Hong Kong Veterinary Nursing industry.



Vice President
Joey Heung 

Joey Heung has been working in veterinary nursing industry for 10 years. She started as a Marine Mammal Trainer and became veterinary service supervisor in Ocean Park. She is now working in Equine Hospital at The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

She graduated from University of Queensland and has a great interest in Marine Biology. She completed her AIRC Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through Australia. She has joined HKVNA as a CPD committee 4 years ago and has been working on the continuing professional development for veterinary nurses and assistants.

 She hopes that HKVNA can help Hong Kong veterinary nurses and assistants to develop a structural program for their continuing professional development.




Secretary
Cherry Chan 

Cherry work at Heung Wo Animal Medical Centre as a Practice Manager. She holds a degree of BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Royal Veterinary College of the University of London. The 4 years of study include veterinary theory and practical skills.

Cherry joined HKVNA as a CPD sub-committee in 2014 and vice President as well as Secretary in 2015 and 2016 and continuous in 2017 to 2020. She will use her knowledge to assist President to develop the industry of veterinary nursing. She also wants to improve the quality of veterinary nurses/assistants. She aims for advocate the code of conduct so to increase the professionalism of veterinary nurses/assistants and register all veterinary nurses/assistants by regulations.


Treasurer
Noira Chan

Noira has a special interest in exotic animal and wildlife. She has been worked in KFBG since 2002. During that period, she have handled and gained a lots of experience with various species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. In the end of 2012, she move on and stretch up something different, she joined and help to set up the Heung Wo Exotic Veterinary Centre.

She joined HKVNA as a committee member since 2012 and as a treasurer from 2013. She loves her work and have great satisfaction of being able to help the animals and their owner.

During the spare time, Noira enjoys spend her time with her family and pet, she also loves to travel oversea to explore new places.

Chrisy Lo

Being a vet nurse since 2001
worked with +60vets in HK, Macau and Taiwan.
Future plan is, to explore more vet-related opportunities to improve this profession.


Membership
Rocky Sham

Rocky Sham has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2004. He was one of the three founders of HKVNA.

He completed his AIRC Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse and workplace assessor through Australia. He is also an UK-Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Rocky would like to increase the number of member in HKVNA , it can ensure that Veterinary Nursing in HK has strong representative body and help HKVNA provide benefit , support and promotion for our members.

 


Membership

Andy Lin

Andy joined HKVNA as a committee of Membership 2 years ago. He has started his animal career as an animal keeper at KFBG since 2011. He then joined Heung Wo Exotic Veterinary Centre as a veterinary assistant in 2016. He completed AIRC cert 2 in 2017 and is now studying cert 4 to become a qualified veterinary nurse.  

He is interested in animal behaviour and environment enrichment. He is aimed at increasing the awareness of animal welfare by sharing his knowledge and experience to our members.    


Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Angel Chan 

Angel has been an animal lover since young, she has been in the veterinary field for over 18 years. She founded Pet Elements Veterinary Services in 2011 and she works as Operations Manager overseeing practice operations and marketing functions.


Editing
Lee Kwok Shing

Shing has been working in the Hong Kong Jockey Club as a veterinary technician since 2010 and he is a AIRC certificate IV holder.

He joined HKVNA as a committee for six years and he is one of the editors of the newsletter.
